About

¡Hello! My name is Melina Carranza and I am a leather artisan. Oficio Studio was born in Madrid more than fourteen years ago, not as a brand, but as a way of understanding work, time, and the objects that truly matter to us. A space where design, hands, and leather come together to shape pieces that accompany us, endure, and have meaning.

From the beginning, I knew I didn’t want to delegate the essentials. While many brands outsourced their production, I chose another path: learning by doing. Cutting, sewing, making mistakes, starting over. It wasn’t the most profitable or the fastest way, but it was the most honest. Doing it differently also made the result different. That’s how I built my own language.

This is the craft I practice

Leather is the foundation of my work. Over the years, I’ve traveled across Spain in search of the material that would give meaning to Oficio Studio: artisanal leather of the highest quality, tanned with natural tannins and dyes, free from chemicals. A leather made with traditional techniques, that ages with dignity and improves with use.

I was not looking for a flawless finish, but for a living leather —one with character— capable of enduring time and adding true value to each piece. Finding it has been a fundamental part of my journey.

A place

Today I live in Galicia, in a peaceful setting between the sea and a small vegetable garden that I tend with the same care I put into making my bags. My craft has brought me here, to this way of life that gives me freedom and autonomy, woven together with the bonds of clients, collaborators, and friends who understand that craftsmanship is not a trend, but a way of being in the world.
